what the role of clams in a tank?

I caught two of them in a pond, what do they do? How do I feed them?

Clams filter through the sludge at the bottom of your pond, I've never kept them before so I can't tell you what to feed them. Many fish use clams to lay there eggs in and without them they could not spawn and reproduce. This all sounds good, but theres a downside to clams too. 1. They carry many parasites that don't effect them but will kill fish 2. Their babies/eggs stay in fishes gills until born.
