How can I move my fish and aquarium from San Diego, CA for the Northern CO?
We have a 30-gallon water tank with tropical fish sweet as guramis, tetras, a plecostomus and glassfish. They are all pretty established and I am thinking of emptying half way tank, taking tablets oxygen (if there is such a thing holes) and ending at the tank and Sarah wrap fish poking in a way can live, but water will not slosh around. My concern is the travel length and water temperature. It is almost 1700 miles driving. Someone else has done something similar? Has anyone any suggestions? Thank you in advance for your help! By the way, we are using a truck. Penske.
I moved from Florida to Ohio, only about half that distance. I had a Jack Dempsey sentence at that time. I used 50% of old water from the tank and 50% of treated tap water. I put water in about a 20 gallon plastic contatiner about 10 gallons of water and a cap. I put nothing but fish in the container. I sent in back of tank-truck load was about an inch of water to end try and keep alive the bacteria and fish in front of me to help regulate the water temp. All my fish survived and lived several years later. He was about 24 hours. travel. Your Fish are a small variety so they should not to use up more oxygen. 10 gallons of water is a little heavy, but it can be moved by one person. Just fill contatiner plastic until about half way to prevent water from splashing out. Believe or not I used a bathroom trash can with a lid. Good Luck ......
