Not very many people realize that pain in the head, neck, shoulder area, and sometimes even down the arm can be from chewing muscles and the position of the joint (TMJ).
The way your upper and lower teeth come together dictate the position of your muscles and joints. Headaches, bad posture, tingling of the hands, tight shoulders, ringing of the ears... these are some of the symptoms associated with "TMJ".
Sometimes these problems are so significant that they affect the quality of your over-all health and well-being.
At Dr. Carroll's office we approach these problems with "neuromuscular" treatment. That is, we evaluate the position of your teeth, muscles and joints and look for a harmonious relationship between these three. We then fabricate a removeable "orthotic" that is worn on the lower teeth to keep your bite in its new position.
