Pond cleaning question?
I one years have rubber-lined pond with no drain. How do I recommend it cleaning? I have a siphon-vacuum hose inner tubes for my aquarium, but I have idea how to clean the lake. I tried using a siphon hose in the lake, but not allow sufficient suction to remove sludge and waste because it is below ground (gravity). I see a lot of rotting leaves and sediment at the bottom of the pond, it must be removed and my pond network does not help (just scrap it flows through right!). Is there a "pond vacuum or other Cleaning system can I use to clean my pond? Please advise there anything can be bought to clean my lake! Thanks!
A powerhead (eg the aquarium) or pond pump enough piping running water outside side of the lake (and a long external power cable!) is good for large water removal. If you're just looking to make cleaning a place I learned about the product in the pond seminar in the local fish shop for a few years ago: http://www.aqua-mart.com/gvac.html This is expensive at $ 55, but does not require electricity if It is good to know someone, it's just to do something similar myself. The main structure is short, narrow piece of pipe (PVC), adapter for a wider tube and adapter for another shave. It works by limiting the upper part of your hand and introduce the bottom of the lake near some debris. Keeping his hand against the reserves water from entering. When you're bottom location top, remove your hand, causing water (and waste) to be sucked in the broader composition of water in a "vaccuum", trying to catch up with the water level outside. Once the debris is sucked up, cap on top again with his hand, pull vaccuum out of the water and release water in the bucket (or when). Repeat as necessary! Will need to know what length of pipe to be used based on the depth and the diameter of your pond.
