Gas prices are rising. Here are some tips to help you save gas and save money as we approach summer gas prices.
st Keep your car tuned up. Automobile driving in bad condition use more gasoline.
nd An itinerary and to avoid unnecessary driving.
rd When you run the air conditioner can get much worse gas mileage. Use the air conditioner sparingly. If you lower the setting, use it. Turn on the car cooled down, and then turn it off and let the fan in the circulation of cool air. Never run the air conditioner from open windows!
th Keep windows closed when traveling at high speeds. Open windows cause additional drag and lower gas mileage. At high speeds, an open window can use more gas than many air conditioners (especially if they are on a low level).
th Check the tire pressure. Over-inflated tires can actually reduce fuel consumption, so do not overfill.
th If possible, change the start time of work to avoid traffic jams. Stop and Go traffic hurts your gas mileage.
th Take unnecessary elements of the car. Does not need to carry chains with you in the summer. Just make sure to put them back in when winter comes around.
th Try not to idle the engine for a long time. If you get stuck in traffic and you do not think you're going to go anywhere in the next five minutes, you may want to turn your car off.
th There's no need to warm the car for a long time, especially new cars. New cars are to run cold.
th Do not travel at high speeds in low gears unless you need the compression to slow down.
th Attempts to drive the speed limit.
th Attempts to accelerate slowly when leaving the stop light. It is not is the competition with the driver in the lane next to you is. The fastest person through the intersection just gets to spend more on gas.
th No need to buy the highest gasoline prices. Most cars are built to operate on regular unleaded. Make sure the owner's manual or consult a mechanic. I have had many tell me that the more expensive gas waste of money.
th Engine speed unnecessarily waste gas. There is no need to before turning rev the car off.
th If possible, try to arrange car pools with co-workers to share the cost of commuting to work.
th On foot, bike or run on the intended location whenever possible.
th When the price is Sky High, do not fill up. Wait for prices to go down before filling the tank. Filling up your tank, when the price is peaking lets gas to know that they are willing to pay ridiculous prices for petrol.
th And the last, largest and most important step to saving money on gas is always I try to purchase vehicles, good gas mileage. The difference between 20 miles-per-gallon and 40 miles per gallon is huge.
